Do Car Extended Warranty Cover Engine?

You never want to be in the situation of having a blown engine. An expensive repair bill is the worst thing that can happen, plus you run the risk of damaging your car and your person. There may seem to be no silver lining to a repair like that, especially if you have to absorb the cost. It is likely that if you have an extended warranty, your engine will be covered under it, and if you have taken good care of your car and just had bad luck with the machine, your extended warranty will probably come in handy.

What Is An Extended Car Warranty?

The extended car warranty is a service contract that allows drivers to cover the cost of repairs to a vehicle’s major systems, such as the engine and transmission. Extended warranty are available from third-party companies or directly from the manufacturer. There are usually multiple levels of coverage provided by extended warranty providers, including benefits such as towing services and rental car coverage.

Will A Car Extended Warranty Cover The Engine?

Definitely! Extended warranties cover your car engine in the event of a breakdown. In addition, it covers repairs to transmissions and fuel systems, air conditioning and cooling systems, gearboxes, steering, suspension, non-friction clutch and brake parts, and electrical systems. Nevertheless, what is covered in each policy varies, so it’s worth checking your policy to find out precisely what is covered.

What’s Not Usually Covered By Extended Car Warranties?

Repairs on replaceable parts such as batteries, bulbs, wheels, and tires will fall outside most warranties. Wear and tear are not included in most cases, such as damage to the brake discs or brake pads. The same goes for cosmetic repairs, such as painting or refinishing the interior. The warranty would not apply to damaged vehicles that have been in an accident or vandalized and need to be repaired or have to have parts replaced would not be covered under warranty. You can, however, add some repairs to your policy for an additional fee.

Is It Possible That My Extended Car Warranty Claim Is Rejected?

When you buy a car warranty, you are responsible for ensuring it remains valid. You may not be able to claim if:

— You continue to use your vehicle even if a warning light appears on the dashboard.

— You continue to drive your vehicle despite an apparent mechanical or electrical problem.

— Failure to service your vehicle as recommended by the service agreement

— Modify the vehicle or use parts that are not standard or approved by the manufacturer

— Using the wrong fuel or fluid

— You do not follow the warranty claim instructions properly.

Types Of Extended Car Warranties

Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty

In general, bumper-to-bumper extended warranties are the most comprehensive. It covers all parts and systems on a vehicle, excluding routine maintenance and wears and tear.

Powertrain Warranty

Warranty coverage for the powertrain includes every vehicle component that moves, including the engine, transmission, and other features that drive the wheels.

Drivetrain Warranty

Drivetrain warranties are like powertrain warranties, except they do not cover the engine.

Wrap Warranty

A wrap warranty applies to the rest of the car in addition to a powertrain warranty. In effect, you get bumper-to-bumper coverage.

Corrosion Warranty

If your car rusts, a corrosion warranty will help cover the cost of the damage.
